Identify an artifact without guessing

Start with the visible label or interaction prompt. If an object reacts, record the response: a displayed name, an inventory change, a message, or a Cash change. Keep the surrounding room in the note so another similar-looking object does not become the same entry by accident.

Use Find Artifacts for a first collection attempt. A photograph of an object is useful identification material, but it does not by itself establish a payout.

Read a value with its conditions

A helpful artifact record needs more than a number. Compare the exact object, the action that produced Cash, the amount received, and the date. If a code was redeemed or something was purchased at the same time, the balance difference cannot be assigned entirely to the artifact.

One result is an observed payout. A repeatable fixed value needs matching observations under comparable conditions. Keep different outcomes visible instead of averaging away a possible condition or version change.

Decide whether to continue searching

Ask whether you can still identify your last junction, see the area around the object, and understand the next interaction. If those answers deteriorate, stop extending the search and re-establish your bearings. This is a decision about what you can control, not a claim about a fixed return point or what happens to loot after death.

Artifact Compass is officially described as locating nearby artifacts. It was included in Gear + in the checked catalog. Compare its purpose in Gear before expecting it to display values or replace observation.

Keep your before-and-after balance in the personal Cash log. If the object belongs to another part of the game, choose the appropriate database record before naming it.
